Understanding NFL Team Records
NFL team records track the historical performance of all 32 franchises across multiple seasons. Our database covers every regular season game from 1999 to present, providing comprehensive win-loss data, point differentials, and situational breakdowns.
Win percentage is calculated using the formula: (Wins + 0.5 * Ties) / Total Games. This accounts for ties as half-wins, giving an accurate measure of team success over time.
Why Point Differential Matters
Point differential is often a better predictor of future success than win-loss record alone. Teams with large positive differentials tend to sustain success, while teams with negative differentials despite winning records often regress. A team winning close games may have a better record than their underlying performance suggests.
